Welcome to Woman on the Rise: a podcast for women like you - who didn’t come here to play small, follow the rules, or be limited by what’s considered normal. Through conversations about style, mindset, spirituality and business, my desire is to help you elevate your identity, dress for your dreams, and take action toward manifesting everything possible for you while becoming the best version of yourself in the process. I’m your host, Christie Ressel, a mentor and image consultant who has styled and coached women globally and now helps other entrepreneurs, especially stylists, create a life and business of their design. Let's jump in.

One of the reasons I see women struggle with their style is because they don’t feel like they have their own spin.

How to get your own spin on style

  1. Get clear on your vision. This is true in business and style.  A vision will help you cull through the mass amounts of stuff out there and help you curate a style you love. Get clear on what’s going to make you feel up-levelled and then do your pinning, image searches, etc.
  2. Ask for help. I’m a big advocate for investing in yourself to get you the results you’re after faster. Paying a professional, for anything, style, coaching, etc. will help you save time, money, frustration, body-image heart break, etc – and get you on a path you feel better about so much easier and with more ease. That’s why I love my personal style program so much because I help the students a long the way with their style. I’m there helping you tweak things on your own terms, answering your questions and providing guidance when you need it. I did the same thing with myself! I invested in my style way back and I still invest in myself with coaches to help guide me along a path that feels good and to get me to wear I’m going faster.
  3. Ask what would feel better. This may seem silly, but so many people say, “I like what I’m doing, but I feel like it’s missing something” – okay, so what do you feel it’s missing? Take some time and get honest with yourself. Jewellery? Bold lip? What would you rather see? That will create so much more clarity for you and help move the needle in a direction that feels good.
  4. Make it your own with small tweaks. Re-creating looks on Pinterest are all good so long as the image speaks to your vision and what you love about a style you want for yourself. Most people try and re-create images using the exact colour palette or pieces in their closet. Instead, ask what you like about the image and see what you have in your closet based on that. If an image has dainty jewellery in it, but you’re more of a bold jewellery kind of gal, rock those pieces! Is doesn’t have to be the same. If you try and only re-create what you see, you’ll forever feel like you aren’t creating an authentic spin on it that lifts you up and speaks to you.
